Check Out These Volunteer Opportunities in Redmond

Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to the community while at the same time meeting your neighbors and learning new skills.

If you're searching for an opportunity, here are a few organizations near our Redmond, WA apartments that provide support to people and animals in need:

Washington Ferret Rescue & Shelter

Established in a garage, the Washington Ferret Rescue has grown to become one of the best-known organizations dedicated to rescuing and re-homing ferrets. This no-kill shelter currently has 150 animals and welcomes all ages and medical conditions. As the ferrets wait for their loving homes, they enjoy quality meals and daily out-of-cage playtime.

The volunteers play a large role in daily operations. They come from diverse backgrounds and strive to make life better for the ferrets in their care. Duties include making toys, changing bedding, and filling water bottles.

Virginia Mason

Dating back to 1920, Virginia Mason began with eighty beds and six physicians' offices. It's named after the daughters of the founding doctors and provides medical care for nearly all conditions. The hospital has pioneered many new treatments, and in 1980, it was the first in the region to perform an inner ear implant.

Virginia Mason welcomes compassionate volunteers who work with patients and team members. They help improve the quality of care, and duties depend on interests and experiences. Options include operating the concierge cart, stocking supplies in the gift shop, and assisting in the Patient-Family Liaison Center.

Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center

Little Bit changes lives one stride at a time. It features one of the country's largest full-time therapeutic horsemanship programs and serves around 230 patients every week. The classes help students improve their balance as well as prevent bone weakness and joint dislocation.

The volunteers are essential to the center's success. No previous horse experience is necessary, and duties including tacking the horses and assisting riders during class. The volunteers can also work in the barn where they're responsible for cleaning stalls and filling water buckets.
